Items New Jersey Acura Drivers Should Always Have In Their Vehicles

January 21st, 2016 by

There are a number of emergency situations that can take place when you’re out on the road. At Acura of Denville, our Acura dealer in New Jersey, we think it’s important for drivers to be prepared for any situation. Here’s what we suggest drivers keep in their vehicles at all times:

Before you collect the items you’ll need, it’s a good idea to make some room for them. Check out the contents of your vehicle’s trunk and toss out any unnecessary things. It’s better to have the space for the stuff that’ll protect you in the event of a roadside emergency.

Jumper Cables

Jumper Cables

The first of our suggestions is seemingly obvious.  Every driver should have a set of jumper cables in his or her car.  Getting stuck with a dead battery because you forgot to turn off the headlights isn’t uncommon, so it’s a good idea to have the tools you’ll need to get yourself back on the road.  Now that you’ve got jumper cables stashed in the trunk, all you’ll need to do is flag down a friendly fellow motorist in the event that your car won’t start; you’re already one step closer to avoiding getting stuck somewhere!

A Flashlight

In the event that you have a roadside emergency at night, a flashlight is a good thing to have–especially if it means changing a tire under the night sky.  Look for the flashlights that are powered by hand-pumping; these ones don’t require batteries therefore, you’ll never have to worry about hitting the switch and finding a flashlight that doesn’t work.

Ice Scraper and Shovel

New Jersey winters can get brutal, so it’s wise to keep an ice scraper and shovel in your car–especially during the season.

Blankets

Blankets

Keeping a blanket on hand is an extremely smart idea–especially during the winter.  New Jersey Acuradrivers don’t want to find themselves in a situation where they’re stranded for a few hours waiting for help while it’s chilly.  Leaving a blanket in your trunk will ensure that you and your passengers are able to keep warm during an emergency.

We’ve got you prepared for any roadside emergencies that may came your way, but if you ever find yourself in a situation where you vehicle requires maintenance, you can give our New Jersey Acura service center a call at (888) 264-9977.
